Watch: Highest-Paid Podcasters of 2026 Revealed: How Much Travis Kelce, Alex Cooper and More Make
Alex Cooper isn’t about to let you call her out.
Days after the Call Her Daddy podcast host—who is expecting her first baby with husband Matt Kaplan—shared she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, she clapped back at an internet troll who delivered his unwanted two cents on her pregnancy.
After a social media user DM’d Cooper saying, “Don’t complain about being pregnant. Your choice. Pregnancy can be hard,” she took a moment to respond publicly.
“‘Pregnancy can be hard,’” she wrote on Instagram Stories Aug. 2 alongside a screenshot of the message, “oh Chris tell me about your pregnancy I would love to hear babe!”
And the 31-year-old further emphasized the irony of the comment, writing, “Just wanted to share all the dms I get like this…are from men lol.”
Two months after she and Kaplan announced they were expecting their first baby together, Cooper shared she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, a usually temporary condition that causes high blood sugar, per Mayo Clinic.
“I’m not going to cry on the internet because I’ve never cried on the internet but when I tell you I almost did,” Cooper admitted in an Instagram video shared July 30. “I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It is when the placenta hormones cause insulin resistance, a.k.a., your pancreas cannot create enough insulin to keep your blood sugar normal.”

Gestational diabetes affects up to 9 percent of pregnant people, according to the CDC, which is why Cooper said she was told “anyone can get this. No matter your prior weight, diet, fitness level.”
Even so, Cooper couldn’t help but feel alone in her health battle.
“When I got this diagnosis, the first couple days, I was really hard on myself,” she admitted. “It felt very isolating, like, as much as my family and my husband and everyone was there for me I just felt like, it’s me on an island.”
And the pregnancy hormones certainly didn’t help.

“This diagnosis was so upsetting because during pregnancy there’s so much emotionally that you’re going through,” she said. “I have been so blessed and there’s been so many incredible parts of my pregnancy but it’s a lot.”
And while her first priority will always be her baby’s health, Cooper hopes that by sharing her experience online she can help other expectant mother going through similar pregnancy journeys.
“Obviously my first instinct is, ‘Oh my god I want my child to be OK and I want my baby to be healthy and I’ll do whatever it takes,’” she explained. “If there’s another woman out there that’s going through this right now—honey I see you more than I’ve ever seen you.”
