Watch: Mauricio Umansky Gets Honest About Kyle Richards, Their Separation & Moving Forward | E! Hot Goss
Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards‘ bond remains as solid as a diamond.
Over three years after The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars announced they were ending their 27-year marriage, Mauricio proved there’s still nothing but love between him and his estranged wife.
“Kyle and I are great friends, that’s the bottom line,” the 56-year-old—who shares daughters Alexia Umansky, 30, Sophia Umansky, 26, and Portia Umansky, 18, with Kyle in addition to stepdaughter Farrah Brittany, 37—told E!’s Hot Goss hosts Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts IIV in an exclusive interview. “Obviously we have not filed yet. But to all of these separations that people go through, do it with dignity.”
While Mauricio and Kyle’s relationship may no longer be romantic, the reality stars will always consider each other family.
“She and I had a relationship for 30 years,” Mauricio noted. “She’s my best friend, she’s the mother of my kids, we loved each other, we love each other.”
Of course, Mauricio acknowledged that going through a breakup in the public eye can have a downside—”It’s not fun, everybody asking and wondering”—he hopes their cordial uncoupling can help others become friendly exes too.
“If we can teach anybody anything,” the real estate mogul explained, “it’s how to do it with elegance and dignity and have respect for each other.”

As for continued speculation the former couple might be headed for a reconciliation, Mauricio confirmed he and Kyle are not getting back together—for now, at least.
“We just take it day at a time right now,” he told E! before adding with a laugh, “I’m not going to give you any insight that I don’t have yet.”
The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test contestant does, however, have plenty of insight on what it’s like training for season five of Fox’s grueling reality competition series.

And while he admitted Kyle was not happy when he and Alexia signed up for the show, the experience they shared in the jungles of Malaysia was worth more than a shopping spree down Rodeo Drive.
“Alexia wanted to go on her own, let’s just be clear with that,” Mauricio explained. “She’s an absolute badass. I’m so proud of her. To have that moment between father and daughter and to share a moment like this, it’s so intense and physically challenging, mentally challenging, uncomfortable. But to be there, it’s priceless.”

Mauricio added, “It was the most incredible experience on the planet.”
