Chandler Riggs, perhaps best known for his role as Coral Carl Grimes in the TV adaptation of The Walking Dead, has released a short film based on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in collaboration with Spook Fest Films. Riggs not only stars in it, but he also wrote, directed, and edited the whole thing.

The film has not been created for profit, but rather to showcase Tampa Bay as “a strong, supportive, and experienced home for film productions”. Even better, no AI was used in the production, and the description states that it may not be used to train AI. Cool.

The film itself is decent. It’s incredibly faithful to the events of the game; perhaps to its detriment, in some respects. But the visuals are fantastic, and the production team has done a wonderful job transforming Arturo Fuente’s original cigar factory in Tampa Bay into the terrifying Baker estate from the game.

What’s amusing is that the recent Resident Evil movie from Zach Cregger stars Austin Abrams, who appeared alongside Riggs in season six of The Walking Dead, portraying Alexandria resident Ron Anderson. In fact, Abrams’ character shoots Riggs’ Carl Grimes in the face, blinding the character in one eye. How funny that they both starred in their own Resident Evil projects in the same year!

Anyway, do give it a watch. It’s not perfect, but for fans of the game, it’s a neat way to spend 20 minutes.
