âLook, my husbandâs colorful, fantastic careerâhe named the book One Helluva Ride, so youâve got to hold onto you that when you read it, Iâd say,â she reasoned. âThatâs what Iâm going to do when I read my copy anyway.â
As for whether sheâd been surprised by any of the anecdotes that had already piqued the publicâs interest, she answered with a simple, âNo.â
After all, not only have she and Douglas had over 25 years of marriage to spill all their secrets to one another, but itâs also not like the Romancing the Stone actor published the book overnight.

Plus, she and Douglasâwho share kids Dylan, 26, and Carys, 23âhave built a solid foundation over their almost three decades together. And, according to the 57-year-old, their winning partnership boils down to a few basic instincts.
âBeing kind to each other,â she explained. âAnd we have a very similar, sick, dry sense of humor. Which, in any circumstance that you find yourself in, within 28 yearsâwe were two years together before we go marriedâyouâve got to find humor in it. It may not be funny at the time, but you got to look back at it and go, âYou gotta laugh at that now, remember when that happened?ââ
In addition to patience, Zeta-Jones also sites giving the other âfree reignâ to pursue projects that appeal to themâincluding Kill Jackie, which sees the actress play a former drug queenpin on the run from assassins.Â
âHe loves nothing more than when he sees the joy my acting brings me,â she said of her husband. âI donât want to be away from him for seven months, coming back and forth, but we make it work. We always find those times and those long weekends where we can reconnect, and then off we go.â
So, donât miss the fruits of Douglas and Zeta-Jonesâ separation in Kill Jackie, which premiered on AMC+ Oct. 2. And for more of the coupleâs sweetest moments, read on.Â
