Watch: Hayden Panettiere’s Ex Wladimir Klitschko Believes Some of Her Jewelry Was Pawned Off
Hayden Panettiere’s ex Wladimir Klitschko is doing what he can for his daughter.
Less than two months after the Nashvilledied from an accidental overdose at the age of 36, the former professional boxer is paying $30,000 of his own money to cover her tax bill and prevent “unnecessary interest” and additional penalties, according to docs obtained by E! News.
He noted he was doing so to avoid “direct financial detriment” for their daughter Kaya, 11, the sole heir of Panettiere’s estate.
In the docs, Klitschko said he believes the late actress’ 2025 individual state and federal tax returns are due on Oct. 15, and he plans to pay the sum out of his own pocket as no one has been appointed as the representative of Hayden’s estate at this time. The 50-year-old said he “will later seek reimbursement” from the estate once it is set up.
E! News has reached out to reps for Panettiere and Klitschko but has not received a comment.
Klitschko—who dated Panettiere off and on from 2009 to 2018—previously filed for temporary guardianship of Kaya, explaining in a Sept. 24 court filing obtained by E! News that it was “urgent and essential” he be appointed as his daughter’s guardian to ensure he has the eligibility to file a probate petition for her estate.
“Without an immediate appointment for these purposes, there is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden’s Estate may be lost, damaged or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it,” the filing read. “This directly and adversely affects Kaya, as she is the sole heir entitled to the entirety of Hayden’s probate estate.”

Klitschko also alleged in an Oct. 5 filing that some of Panettiere’s belongings have gone missing, with the filing noting, “Petitioner is informed and believes that a non-family member previously connected to Hayden sold certain items belonging to Hayden, believed to include jewelry, to a pawn shop. The pawn shop has declined to disclose specific item information without being contacted by law enforcement.”
Per the filing, because an individual has not been named as the personal representative of Panettiere’s estate, no one has the authority to request law enforcement’s assistance in investigating the alleged disappearances, which is part of why Klitschko asked to also be made temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate.
“Although Hayden’s Estate has not yet been distributed to Kaya, Kaya’s priority as sole intestate heir gives her the paramount economic interest in preserving the value of Hayden’s Estate,” the filing reads, adding that making Klitschko the guardian “is necessary to protect that interest from further loss.”

Following Panettiere’s death, Klitschko—who received full custody of Kaya in 2018—shared a statement saying how the Ice Princess actress was “an important part” of his and Kaya’s life.
“To our daughter Kaya, I will always speak of her mother with respect and make sure she remembers the person she was,” he wrote on Instagram Aug. 18. “I extend my deepest condolences to Hayden’s parents, her friends, and her fans, who are also grieving today. Young and talented people like Hayden should not leave this world so soon.”
