“Be a good girl and just go home, Misty!” Netflix has revealed the official trailer for the movie Heartland, a country western movie starring Jessica Chastain as a country legend who has been gone for 20 years but decides to return. From director Shana Feste, of The Greatest, Country Strong, Endless Love, Boundaries, Run Sweetheart Run, comes another film set in Nashville. Former country megastar, Misty Jones, comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her missing niece, a rising country musician, and must grapple with her own past and Nashville’s seedy underbelly. Her search uncovers a murky side of Nashville where no one, including Misty, is who they seem. Starring Jessica Chastain, Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch, Paul Sparks, Jennifer Nettles, and John Hawkes. The film’s official Heartland soundtrack features original performances from the film’s cast, including Chastain, 3-time Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles, Ross Lynch and CMA nominee Carter Faith, alongside Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap, Channing Wilson, and Dave “Fergie” Ferguson. I dig how this twists from a twangy country western comeback into an intense mystery thriller about solving a crime & bringing down bad people. Go, Misty, go!
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Shana Feste’s movie Heartland, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
“Misty could be incredibly tender, and then five minutes later, shoot someone’s windows out. So, she’s not interested in being liked. And I love women like that on screen because I don’t think we get to see them that often. Underneath the noir and the mystery, Shana was making a film about women reclaiming authorship of their own lives.” –Jessica Chastain
In this town, fame has a price. Former country legend, Misty Jones (starring Jessica Chastain), comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her missing niece, a rising country musician, and must grapple with her own past & Nashville’s seedy underbelly. Her search uncovers a murky side of the city where no one, including Misty, is who they seem. Set against the raw reality of Nashville, the original album sets country’s mistakes, temptations and betrayals to song, led by the title track from Chastain and Nettles. Heartland is written and directed by American filmmaker Shana Feste, director of the films The Greatest, Country Strong, Endless Love, Boundaries, Run Sweetheart Run previously. Produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Randall Poster, Jason Owen. Made by Chernin Entertainment & Sandbox Studios. Netflix debuts Feste’s Heartland streaming on Netflix starting November 13th, 2026 this fall. Any good?
