Watch: Jessica Biel Shares Glimpse Into Romantic Paris Getaway With Justin Timberlake
Early on, Justin Timberlake had an inkling that when he finally got to love somebody it was gonna, gonna, gonna, gonna, it was gonna be future wife Jessica Biel.
“When I met Jess, it was undeniable how beautiful she is,” the musician wrote in his 2018 memoir Hindsight & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me. Both attending a surprise party at a Hollywood speakeasy, “I made some sort of sarcastic comment, really dry,” Timberlake recounted. “Nobody got it except her. She laughed, and I noticed, all of a sudden, and in the way where you wonder if a person’s like you, if they have a very dry, dark sense of humor, too.”
Yet, he didn’t realize immediately he was looking at the other half of him.
Sure, he chatted her up, they even shared a dance to Madonna‘s “Lucky Star,” but he left without getting her number.
“It wasn’t the time,” he wrote. But, admittedly, when he’d think of the 7th Heaven actress, he’d start to glow. “Thoughts kept leaping into my mind: I’m kind of really interested in that girl. There was just something about that girl. Kind of interested in that girl.”
So when a mutual friend offered to bring the Emmy nominee, 44, to the opening night of his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour in San Diego on Jan. 8, 2007, “I said, ‘I could be into that,'” the 45-year-old reflected. “Patience may not be my strong suit but, apparently, playing coy is.”
His long game in full effect, he offered Biel and her pals a ride back to L.A. on his tour bus and after they spent the whole ride deep in conversation, he asked for her number.
Still, he shared, “We didn’t date at first. For about two weeks, we talked on the phone, because I was on tour.”
Even once they had that talk, each continued playing the field as “it took a bit for both of us to admit to ourselves that were were really, really that into each other,” Timberlake revealed. But he couldn’t stop the feeling that they had something worth committing to.
When his 121-show run ended that December, “We spent a month together,” he detailed. “After that, I said, ‘I really want to be exclusive.’ And, somehow, she said, ‘So do I.'”

Now, the parents to sons Silas, 11, and Phineas, 6, are in it until the end of time.
But their path to forever—the two celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary Oct. 4—wasn’t without some twist, turns and at least one full stop.
“We talked a little about marriage,” Timberlake told his cousin and a pal while chatting with a reporter from Vanity Fair in 2011, a few months after the two said bye, bye, bye to their nearly four-year romance. “I said that I think the mistake is that people commit to who that person is right then and not the person they’re going to become. That’s the art of staying together, is changing together. When you say it like that, it seems damn near impossible, right?”
Fortunately, he came back to Biel once he figured it out. And she was right there all along.
Ten months after he proposed in December 2011, amid the snow-covered mountains of Jackson, Wyo., they wed at an Italian resort.
And after the Candy actress FaceTimed the pop star holding up a positive pregnancy test after one 2014 concert in Detroit, he cut his 20/20 Experience World Tour short, Timberlake wrote in his book, “so I could be at home and take care of my family.”
More than a decade after they welcomed Silas, the couple have largely settled in Montana, both 1,000 miles and a world away from their old life in Los Angeles.
“You get hammered in the East Coast, you kinda get hammered on the West Coast,” Biel explained on a May 2024 episode of Kelly Ripa‘s podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera. “That’s why we don’t really live there anymore.”
The goal, she continued, is “just trying to create some normalcy for these kids. We wanna share our family with our loved ones and friends.”
And she wants to share life’s biggest wins with her person.
“We have similar values; we believe in loyalty, honesty,” The Sinner star and executive producer told Marie Claire in 2017. “We like to have fun. We like a lot of the same things. Also, in the business, we’re all very career-oriented, and you have to be a little selfish. I understand that about my peers—about being focused and driven—and if you can find that and someone who shares the same values as you, it’s like: Score!”
So, yes, they feel like they’re winning. And if you need proof they’ve got that sunshine in their pockets, got that good soul in their feet, check out their sweetest pics.
