Watch: Jesse McCartney Talks New Music, Going on Tour and Plans to Have Kids!
Jesse McCartney is ready for more of the best days of his life.
More than a year after welcoming their son Archer, 16, the “Beautiful Soul” singerand wife KatiePeterson are expecting their second baby together.
“Archer is getting promoted to big brother,” McCartney and Peterson wrote in a joint Instagram post Oct. 1 confirming her pregnancy. They added the little one would be joining them in “March 2027.”
Alongside the announcement, the couple shared several sweet snaps with baby Archer as he pointed to his mother’s growing baby bump and looked down at sonogram photos of his future sibling.
McCartney, 39, and Peterson, 38—who wed in October 2021—welcomed son Archer in May 2025, three months before his original due date.
“Our sweet Archie couldn’t wait to meet us and arrived a bit earlier than expected,” the two wrote on Instagram in June 2025. “We are so in love with him. He loves when mommy reads him a book and when daddy sings him off to sleep.”
“We look forward to bringing him home very soon to meet his big sister Bailey, who sleeps with his blanket every night,” the couple added. “Enjoy some cute pictures of our little fighter, Archer.”
During Archer’s time in the NICU, Peterson admitted that she was “experiencing some ‘hospitalitis.’”
“It’s a weird feeling to lose all sense of your time,” the Row actress wrote on Instagram in July of last year. “To repeat the same day over and over again. To sit in fear and anxiety of not knowing what’s next.”

She added that she was grateful to “celebrate little victories along the way,” although many of them were ones she’d never expected to celebrate as a new parent, like when Archer was able to breathe room air.
“It’s a truly terrifying experience and yet wildly hopeful,” Peterson continued. “You find strength you never knew you had. If you are going through your own NICU journey I hope you find comfort that you’re not alone and you’re so strong. Your baby is lucky to have you.”
Thankfully, their baby boy left the NICU after 70 days, heading home with his parents on July 15, 2025.
Peterson posted a sweet video of herself cuddling with Archer a few days later, writing, “There’s nothing like having you at home, Archie.”
