Watch: Sophia Bush Reacts to Ashlyn Harris Revealing She Wore a Jockstrap to Oscars After-Party
Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris have peace of mind.
Nearly three years after the couple started dating, the pair announced they tied the knot in a private ceremony held in Upstate New York in summer 2025.
âWhen you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack whatâs yours and whatâs always sort of been for everyone else,â Bush told Vogue in an article published Sept. 30, noting of Harrisâ soccer career, âYouâve been playing in stadiums in front of 60,000 people since you were 15 or 16, and I started playing a character for tens of millions of people when I was 21.”
The One Tree Hill star added, “Itâs such a privilege to be able to perform as an athlete or an actor, but it also comes with certain costs.â
Which is why when it came down to their wedding, they decided to keep it as intimate as possible, with Harris’ Sloane, 5, and Ocean, 4âwho the soccer star shares with ex-wife Ali Kriegerâserving as the perfect plus ones.
âThe kids were just running and happy,” Harris explained, “and we picked flowers from the property and our daughter Sloane was holding them.”
As Harris noted, she wanted didn’t want her kids to be anything other than happy.
“It was so fun for them, because it wasnât this pressure-filled day thatâs too much for young kids,â she continued. “It was so precious, and zero pressure. I will never forget it, and I think wedding days sometimes arenât like that.”

Indeed, for Bushâwho split from ex Grant Hughes in 2023 and was briefly married to Chad Michael Murray in the early aughtsâbeing surrounded by their loved ones served as the highlight.
âWe got to have personal experiences with everyone we love, and once we got through all of those, how do we put it out? Because I donât want to keep sitting on panels or in interviews and being like, âMy partner,ââ Bush added, explaining directly to Harris, âYouâre not my partner, you know? Youâre my wife. And it feels so amazing to say that.â
In 2024, Bush detailed how she and Harris were able to support each other during their respective divorces and as they navigated changes in their lives.
“I didnât expect to find love in this support system,” the actress wrote in an April 2024 essay for Glamour. “I donât know how else to say it other than: I didnât see it until I saw it. And I think itâs very easy not to see something thatâs been in front of your face for a long time when youâd never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option. What I saw was a friend with her big, happy life. And now I know she thought the same thing about me.”
