Watch: Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s Daughter Fiona Dies at 13
Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s community is rallying around them.
Following the death of the couple’s 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, Lowe and Painter’s loved ones have shared their well wishes.
Among them was Cary Elwes, who starred in the 1984 film Oxford Blues alongside Lowe and his older brother Rob Lowe.
“Our hearts are broken for you all,” the Princess Bride star wrote under Lowe’s last Instagram post. “Thinking of you and praying for you. Always.”
Meanwhile, longtime friend of the couple Marlee Matlin expressed her grief over their tragic loss.
“My heart is broken into pieces,” the Children of a Lesser God star wrote on X Sept. 29. “Fly high, Fiona Lowe. Love you Chad and Kim.”
Lowe and Painter shared the news of Fiona’s passing in a statement to People on Sept. 29, noting they were “deeply heartbroken.”
The couple of more than 15 years—who also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10—remembered Fiona as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” they continued. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
In addition to asking for prayers and privacy during this “devastating” time, Lowe and Painter included information to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for anyone “struggling with mental health.”
The couple did not share any additional information about Fiona’s passing.

Over the years, Lowe often shared glimpses into his and Painter’s life at home as a family of five, sharing snapshots of their vacations and outings.
He also makes sure to mark each of his daughters’ birthdays, including two now heartbreaking tributes to Fiona in over the last years.
In the first, shared just over a year before her death, Lowe wrote of his daughter, “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
Accompanying the Pretty Little Liars alum’s caption was a photo of Fiona leaning up against a bridge railing, a small smile on her face.
And his daughter’s love of dancing was a constant, with Lowe writing one year earlier, “One of my greatest joys is watching this girl dance her way through life! Happy 12th birthday Fi Bear!!”
He added, “You are so deeply loved!!
