Jennifer Lopez‘s block is looking a lot emptier these days.

The “Jenny From the Block” singer got candid about home life after sending off her and ex-husband Marc Anthony‘s 18-year-old twins Max and Emme to their freshman year of college, stressing the importance of making time for routines such as working out and practicing self-care.

“When they go away,” Lopez shared in a Sept. 25 video posted to her skincare brand JLO Beauty’s Instagram account, “and I’m sitting here being an empty nester—crying, thinking about them, looking at baby pictures of them and all that stuff—these routines are the things that are going to keep me kind of sane.”

The 57-year-old continued, “It’s a scary time. It’s a transitional time. It’s a new beginning in a lot of ways for them, certainly, but also for you.”

That’s why J.Lo is encouraging other parents in a similar situation to “keep your routines going.”

“You’re so excited for them to step into this new era of their life,” she said, “but we have to remember it’s a new era of our lives too.”

In fact, Lopez encouraged empty nesters like herself to “revive some old dreams that you had, something you put aside during the time that you were raising your kids” in this new chapter of life.

“Even if it’s just reading books,” the Wedding Planner actress continued, explaining how personal rituals and routines “can fill the space” for when the kids aren’t “down the hall anymore.”

“Stay hydrated. Stay happy. Stay joyful. Stay productive,” she added. “Beauty starts from the inside out.”

Indeed, Lopez—who finalized her divorce from Anthony, 58, in 2014 after 10 years of marriage—devoted many hours to parenting duties when her kids were living at home. As she previously admitted, she sometimes felt she “had very little help.”

“Now, I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I’ve created for myself and be really happy,” she said on a June episode of the SmartLess podcast. “Both my kids got into all their colleges. They both got scholarships and they’re going where they want to go.”

And to celebrate, she and her kids enjoyed a European vacation together before the start of the school year.

“I was thinking about this summer and what a great summer it was,” Lopez said in a Sept. 25 Instagram video. “We got to go away together. I spent as much time with them as I could.”
