“Whatever you do, don’t turn down the volume!” Shudder revealed their official trailer for the latest horror anthology film V/H/S/Mixtape, the 9th film in this ongoing found footage horror franchise of shorts and freaky ideas. Mixtape is scheduled to debuted for streaming on Shudder starting in early October – as always every year after year. Ready for more horror mayhem? V/H/S/Mixtape cranks the volume on horror with a blood-soaked collection of cursed music videos, terrifying performances, and found footage. Press play. Pray it stops. Directors of the segments this time include Ernest Dickerson (Demon Knight), Flying Lotus (Ash), Ghost’s Tobias Forge, David Moreau (MadS), RZA (One Spoon of Chocolate), and Renee Zhan, with the film featuring GWAR and practical puppet effects from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. What?! Awesome. Starring Barbara Crampton, Alex Hsu, Elie Kaempfen, Neela Jolene. I’m still impressed by how they continue making V/H/S movies and how bonkers the stories are every time. This is why horror rules! Such gross fun. The theme in Mixtape this time seems to be music or sound horror – which should be gnarly.
