“If it works, you’ll be saving countless lives.” A trailer has debuted for the action comedy movie Fortitude, another World War II movie to watch this year. Made by British filmmaker Simon West, this is not only another WWII action thriller, it’s also an espionage movie featuring the real Ian Fleming (Bond author who actually was in the Navy) about the plans to trick the Nazis from learning about D-Day before it happened. “Operation Fortitude” decisively changed the course of World War II and paved the way for a free world. Fortitude is based on an incredible true story and follows the fearless and unpredictable spy-soldiers Dudley Clarke (Ed Skrein) & Thomas Argyll ‘TAR’ Robertson (Matthew Goode), as they devise the biggest deception mission ever mounted. The massive cast features Matthew Goode & Ed Skrein as the spies, along with Jordi Mollà, Alice Eve, Art Malik as Ian Fleming, plus Lukas Haas, Adrian Topol, Emilio Sakraya, Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Paul Anderson, with Sir Ben Kingsley, Ron Perlman, Michael Sheen as Churchill, and Nicolas Cage as Dusko Popov (who apparently was the real inspiration for James Bond). No final release date set for this yet but expect it in theaters soon enough. There’s so much going on in this! Not sure it all works, as a comedy or as an action movie, but with this cast it’s hard to ignore this one. Fire it up.
