“Remember: the ball is a living thing!” 🎾 Shudder has revealed the official trailer for the indie horror film titled Bloody Tennis, a tennis camp horror made by the Greek-German filmmaker Nikias Chryssos. This recently premiered at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival earlier this month, and it’s already set for a streaming debut on Shudder in September. Sophie enters the cutthroat world of an elite tennis academy in Southern Europe, where ambition, obsession and fierce competition mask something increasingly sinister beneath the surface. She must contend with fierce competition and the school’s increasingly evil undercurrents. Starring Sandra Guldberg Kampp as Sophie, with Elina Löwensohn, Tracy Gotoas, Helena Zengel, Zlatko Burić, Lily Taïeb, Juliana Vieira Guerra, Lucie Zhang, and Vincent Romeo. This looks similar to the football horror Him from last year but set in the brutally competitive world of tennis in Europe instead.

The film follows Sophie (Sandra Guldberg Kampp), a young woman who has been accepted into an elite tennis academy in the south of Europe. She soon begins to realise the school competitive spirit comes with increasingly sinister undercurrents as she questions if she’s willing to lose who she is to become the player she’s always dreamed of. Bloody Tennis is written and directed by Greek-German genre filmmaker Nikias Chryssos, director of the films The Bunker, A Pure Place, and Rave On previously, plus many other short films. It’s produced by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo. This initially premiered at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival recently playing in the Fuori Concorso section. Shudder will release Nikias Chryssos’ Bloody Tennis horror film streaming on Shudder starting September 25th, 2026 this fall. Look scary? Who’s in?
