Spring Hotels increases Mare Nostrum Resort revenue by 19% in first year following acquisition

One year after acquiring Mare Nostrum Resort, Spring Hotels has delivered a 19% increase in revenue at the resort. Overnight stays also increased by 15%, representing more than 43,000 additional room nights sold. Although the destination has continued to perform well, these improvements have been driven by Spring Hotels’ operating model, revenue management strategy, commercial approach and technology platform, rather than by market performance alone.

Over the past 12 months, Spring Hotels has successfully integrated Mare Nostrum Resort into its portfolio, almost doubling the group’s operational capacity while maintaining service quality and team stability. The integration programme enabled the company to implement its management model consistently across the resort, unlocking significant operational and commercial improvements during its first year.

Miguel Villarroya, CEO of Spring Hotels, said:

“Acquiring Mare Nostrum was an important milestone for Spring Hotels, but the real achievement has been demonstrating what our operating model can deliver at scale. Over the past year, we have successfully integrated the resort into our portfolio, bringing our management model to life across the resort while maintaining the service quality and team stability our guests and employees expect. These results are a testament to the commitment of our people and the strength of the platform we have built, giving us confidence as we continue investing in the long-term future of the business.”

Alongside its commercial performance, Spring Hotels has fulfilled the ESG commitments linked to CaixaBank’s sustainable financing agreement, demonstrating that profitability and responsible business practices can go hand in hand. Today, 91% of the company’s suppliers are local businesses, while approximately 75 employees have transitioned from temporary agency contracts into permanent Spring Hotels roles, reinforcing the company’s commitment to long-term employment and sustainable value creation in the Canary Islands.

Employee engagement has remained strong throughout the transition, with overall employee satisfaction reaching 79.5%, while 81% of employees reported feeling well integrated into Spring Hotels.

Looking ahead, Spring Hotels will begin the refurbishment of Hotel Cleopatra in Playa de las Américas, as part of the company’s long-term investment in Tenerife and commitment to modernising its portfolio.

The group is also investing in its workforce through the acquisition of two residential buildings that will provide 110 homes for employees, helping address housing shortages while supporting recruitment and long-term staff retention.

Villarroya added:

“The progress we have made over the past year gives us a strong platform for the future. Our focus is now on continuing to invest in our portfolio, beginning with the refurbishment of Hotel Cleopatra, while building on the operational excellence that has underpinned our progress so far.”
