“Yoga is a journey to find the Self.” Junghal Studios has revealed an official US trailer for an indie horror thriller creation called Namaslay, a wildly entertaining genre-bending horror satire by filmmakers known as Rish and Kanish. The two are making their first feature film, an independent production made in Los Angeles, riffing on the obsession with yoga there. Namaslay (a joke titled based on the saying “Namaste”) reimagines the spirit of masala cinema through horror and satire. The story turns the commercialization & appropriation of yoga in the West into a blood-soaked, hilarious cultural reckoning. Proving culture is the blood that keeps the dead alive. Starring Kirunthuja Srikanth-Talim (aka Kiru Srikanth) as Gayatri, who moves to LA and gets invited to the inner sanctum of an elite yoga studio. Also with Angela Sant’Albano, Alicia Mitchell-Mangual, Usha Krishnan, and Christina Moore. It’s opening in US theaters starting in August. I knew we’d one day see a yoga horror movie, but this one seems especially unique. Check it out.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Rish & Kanish’s horror film Namaslay, direct from YouTube:

“It’s just a little exercise.” After arriving in Los Angeles, Gayatri (starring Kiru Srikanth) accepts an invitation from her friend Judy to try an upscale yoga studio she’s been dying to attend. When the owner, Reyna, offers Gayatri a chance to join her instructor training program, Gayatri decides to look past the obvious eccentricities and accept the job. As she reconnects with the practice of Yoga she first learned from her grandmother, Gayatri is eventually asked to next attend the prestigious instructor’s retreat, where she discovers the ulterior nature of her invitation. Namaslay is written and directed by the Indian filmmaker duo known as “Rish and Kanish“, aka Rish Arhant-Sudhir and Kanish Arhant-Sudhir, making their first feature film after a few shorts previously. Produced by Venk Potula via Khrisp Entertainment, alongside Rish and Kanish. This hasn’t played at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Junghal Studios debuts Rish & Kanish’s Namalsay film in select US theaters starting August 6th, 2026 coming soon. Looks good?
