The hostility levels between Undisputed WWE champ CM Punk and his SummerSlam challenger Cody Rhodes increased dramatically this past weekend, and the way WWE increased them already had me thinking about asking the Cageside Community this question.
But ringthebell82’s latest post in The Feed pushed me off the fence into making this one. In their post, ringthebell share a recap of how the Punk/Rhodes scenes were addressed on SiriusXM’s Busted Open, and it seems like both Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca were advancing the narrative WWE’s pushing about Punk being upset by Cody’s accusations and actions. That made me even more sure WWE’s posting and deleting of a video showing Rhodes confronting Punk post-Saturday Night’s Main Event is creative’s latest angle designed to make us not only scour tape of their traditional wrestling shows, but watch Netflix’s WWE UnReal as well.
So if that’s right, we’re getting one look at the story now. But another layer of kayfabe will be applied later when another season of the behind-the-scenes docuseries covering the road to SummerSlam premieres in six months.
