Watch: Kate Middleton Says She’s Grateful for Strength in Personal Update Amid Cancer Recovery
Kate Middletonis elevating a good cause.
The Princess of Wales participated in the UK’s National Three Peaks Challenge, trekking across the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales. She hiked in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which funds cancer treatment and research.
“Lots of people have asked me why I’m doing this challenge and partly it’s personal,” Kate said in an Instagram video posted June 28. “I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But more importantly it’s to give something back.”
Praising the “incredible work” being done in the United Kingdom to advance cancer care, the 44-year-old expressed gratitude for Royal Marsden, which is where she herself received cancer treatment after being diagnosed with the disease March 2024. The princess has been in remission since January 2025.
In taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, Kate—who shares kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, with Prince William—explained that it is her way of raising further awareness about the realities of cancer.
“Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare,” she wrote in the caption of another June 28 Instagram. “Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis.”
She continued, “Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients’ ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time.”
