2023’s Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is one of the best party-based CRPGs you can play today, but its Nintendo Switch 2 port was called one of the console’s worst so far earlier this year. Now, Owlcat Games is trying to make things right.
Nintendo Life has exclusively revealed Owlcat is fixing the game the website called a “borderline disaster” back in January, with a “massive update” that’s set to go live at 4pm BST / 8am PDT / 11am EDT. It’s currently unclear how much it actually does, but it’s been promised the patch will eliminate “nasty bugs” and introduce various improvements to both the visual presentation and performance.
More surprising is the announcement that, “as an apology for the awful launch”, Owlcat is making “all additional content for Rogue Trader will be free for Switch 2 owners”. It includes Digital Deluxe content and DLC expansions – like Void Shadows and Lex Imperialis – as well. Furthermore, according to Nintendo Life’s report, the third and fourth major DLCs will be part of the new deal too.
The long-awaited patch and shocking news arrive shortly after the reveal of a “proper cartridge” physical release of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader’s Switch 2 port on 15th October, 2026. This version will come from Silver Lining Interactive, in collaboration with Owlcat Games and Games Workshop.
Meanwhile, Owlcat is also working on a new WH40K CRPG titled Dark Heresy and the Mass Effect-like action RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.
