Here’s more on the upcoming Disney and Pixar movies that we have the most information about right now:
Toy Story 5 (June 19, 2026)
Toy Story 5 is nearly here and its set to tell a tale of toy vs. tech. Bonnie has been gifted a new tablet named Lilypad, and this new device threatens to change playtime forever. These events lead to Woody rejoining the gang after leaving them for the wide, open world in Toy Story 4, and it looks to answer some questions regarding screentime that a lot of of us parents have when trying to raise a kid.
We’ve also learned of some new toys that will be part of the story alongside Conan O”Brien’s Smarty Pants, including “Craig Robinson as Atlas, a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy; Shelby Rabara as the excitable camera toy Snappy; Scarlett Spears as the sweet and shy 8-year-old Bonnie; Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze, an independent 8-year-old girl who loves animals; and Matty Matheson as the tech-fearing toy Dr. Nutcase.” Oh, and for those wondering, Keanu Reeves will be back as the Canadian daredevil toy Duke Caboom.
Moana (Live Action Remake) (July 10, 2026)
Just like the original 2016 CGI animated film, the plot for the live-action remake of Moana will revolve around a young girl who is chosen by the ocean to reunite an ancient relic with the Polynesian goddess Te Fiti with the help of the exiled demigod named Maui. This puts her on a mission to not only save the ocean, but also save her island of Motonui, which has been afflicted with blight as a result of the volcanic demon Te Kā’s rampage.
The live-action remake for Moana was announced on April 3, 2023, with Dwayne Johnson slated to produce the film and reprise his role of Maui, who was inspired by his grandfather Peter Maivia, a former WWE star. Auli’i Cravalho won’t reprise her role as the titular heroine as Moana will now be played by Catherine Laga’aia; however, she’ll serve as executive producer.
Hexed (November 25, 2026)
Walt Disney Animation Studios big film in 2026 is Hexed, which stars a teenage girl named Billie (Hailee Steinfeld) and her mom, Alice (Rashida Jones).
Announced at Destination D23 2025, this film follows Billie as she learns she may not just be unusual and quirky, but actually magical. This lead her to find a secret world of magic, and we got a sneak peak of the action at CinemaCon 2026.
We got to see Billie first discovering this magical world and finding an ancient book that talks to her alongside a pen and ink. After convincing them she is the real deal, they invite her into Hex, a world of magic and wonder just waiting to be discovered.
Hexed will be released on November 25, 2026.
Gatto (March 5, 2027)
Following Toy Story 5, Pixar’s next big film will be Gatto, which comes from Luca director Enrico Casarosa.
This film is set in Venice, Italy, and follows a black cat named Nero who is indebted to a feline mob boss. The movie was revealed at France’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2025, where it was also revealed Nero HATES water despite living in Venice.
Nero is also set to meet a lonely street musician named Maya and will be “forced to forge an unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose.”
Gatto will be released in theaters on March 5, 2027.
Bluey: The Movie (August 6, 2027)
BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced the first-ever animated feature film for Bluey, called Bluey: The Movie, will be released on August 6, 2027.
The film is being written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brum, produced by Amber Naismith, and co-directed by Richard Jeffrey. Beyond that, we know very little about what the movie will actually be about. Thankfully, the movie will star vocal talent from the series, including Melanie Zanetti (Chili) and David McCormack (Bandit), along with music created by Bluey composer Joff Bush.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thought ‘Bluey’ deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together. I’m excited to continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this new ‘Bluey’ story to the big screen.”
Frozen 3 (November 24, 2027) & Frozen 4 (TBD)
Bob Iger announced that Frozen 3 & 4 were in the works on back in 2023, but details about the sequel have since been scarce.
While nothing has really been revealed aside from some concept art from D23 2024, Frozen 3 is expected to pick up where Frozen 2 left off, with Anna becoming queen of Arendelle after Elsa abdicated the throne to become the protector of the Enchanted Forest after learning she’s the fifth spirit bridging the gap between people and magic. As for the release date, it will be out on November 24, 2027.
And we also know Frozen 4 is on the way because Jennifer Lee mentioned at D23 that, “coming out of Frozen 2, we still have some questions. A lot of questions actually. Now, you see why we need two films to tell this story.”
Lilo & Stitch 2 (Live-Action) (May 26, 2028)
Lilo & Stitch 2 was announced in June 2025 following the success of the first live-action remake, which earned over $1.03 billion at the global box office. We haven’t learned anything else about the film’s story yet, but it’s pretty obvious Disney wasn’t going to let this blue alien go just yet.
Incredibles 3 (June 16, 2028)
Incredibles 3 was announced at D23 2024, and we’ve since learned that it may be directed by Elemental’s Peter Sohn rather than Brad Bird, who directed the first two films from 2004 and 2018. We still have yet to learn anything about this new film besides its release date of June 16, 2028, but we can’t wait nonetheless.
Coco 2 (Date TBD)
Pixar’s Coco from 2017 is officially getting a sequel, and director Lee Unkrich will be returning to tell this next story alongside co-director Adrian Molina and producer Mark Nielsen.
Coco has a bright future at Disney, as Disneyland is also getting a Coco attraction at Disney California Adventure that will draw inspiration from Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Tangled (Live-Action Remake) (Date TBD)
2010’s Tangled is getting a live-action remake and we know a bit more about this one than some of the other re-imaginings in the works at Disney, including who will be playing the film’s main stars. Teagan Croft (Titans) will star as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim (Zombies) will become Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) will take on the role of Mother Gothel.
News of the Tangled remake first surfaced in December 2024, but the struggles of the live-action Snow White remake saw Disney pause some of these projects. Now, however, it seems the train will keep rolling along!
Hercules (Live-Action Remake) (Date TBD)
Details surrounding the live-action adaptation of Hercules, which was announced in June 2022, have been scarce since the SAG-AFTRA strikes save for a few tidbits. The movie will be directed by Guy Ritchie, making it the second Disney live-action remake on his resume after Aladdin, and it will be produced by the studio run by Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Danny DeVito may reprise his role as the wise satyr Phil, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
Joe Russo explained to Variety that they’ll use TikTok as inspiration for putting a modern spin on the Disney Renaissance classic. “Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, right? What is their expectation of what that musical looks like and feels like? That can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a little bit on how you execute a modern musical,” he said.
Gaston (Live-Action) (Date TBD)
While we’ve already been treated to a Beauty and the Beast live-action remake, it appears development on another story in that world is in the works that is focused on the villainous Gaston.
According to Deadline, this film would star an all-new version of the character, and Disney wants there to a “swashbuckling” take on the story.
Bambi (Live-Action Remake) (Status Unknown)
The live-action remake of Bambi was confirmed to be in development in January 2020 following the success of Guy Ritchie’s take on Aladdin. The producers aim to use photorealistic CGI for the animal characters just as they did for The Lion King remake and, according to former screenwriter Lindsey Anderson Beer, tone down Bambi’s mother’s death to make it less traumatic for today’s kids than the original 1942 animated film. “Not to spoil the plot, but there’s a treatment of the mom dying that I think some kids, some parents these days are more sensitive about than they were in the past,” she told Collider last year. “And I think that’s one of the reasons that they haven’t shown it to their children.”
Sarah Polley, Academy Award-winning director of Women Talking, is reportedly set to direct the live-action Bambi. No one has been cast as the titular deer or any of his friends yet.
Club 33 Movie (Status Unknown)
In 2024, THR reported that Club 33, Disneyland’s elite members-only restaurant, would be getting the big-screen treatment from Goosebumps writer Darren Lemke and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment.
The film was said to “exude the tone and vibes of Clue and Night at the Museum” and would center on a young detective named Kim who lives in present day New York. She would receive a mysterious invite to Club 33 which, in the film’s universe, exists outside of time and space. This club was also said to feature some of the greatest individuals to ever live, from “geniuses, royalty, and history-makers.” A murder would happen as she arrives, and that would kick off the rest of the movie.
Space Mountain Movie (Status Unknown)
A film based on the Disney Parks attraction Space Mountain has been in the works for quite some time, and the last we heard of it was when THR reported that Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop showrunners Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec would be writing the script.
Big Thunder Mountain Movie (Status Unknown)
A film based on the beloved Disney Parks ride, Big Thunder Mountain, was reported on back in 2022 by Deadline. We haven’t heard much since, but it was said it will be directed by Hawkeye’s Bert & Bertie.
Disney has been trying to make something happen with Big Thunder Mountain since 2012 when it was attempting to make a TV series based on the attraction, but that never saw the light of day.
