The Official Shrek Retro TV Toaster Offers Up a Shrekfast Lifestyle

LEGO just announced the first-ever Shrek sets this week, nearly 25 years after the release of the first movie. Naturally, this has sent me down a bit of a Shrek merch rabbit hole. The Shrek franchise has been going strong for years now with a fifth movie slated for next year, which puts it in a very interesting position in terms of what’s actually available to buy.

The first Shrek movie came out in the early 2000s, and while I was just a kid back then, I remember it being a pretty wild time for movie product collabs. I have a vague recollection of the Shrek TVs and Green Shrek ketchup that still sits in the nostalgia center of my brain like a ghost. So after all these years I was happy to see that you can still buy weird Shrek things like this retro TV-style toaster.

Speaking of that Shrek TV, this toaster is a direct callback to that iconic piece of Shreknology. You can still get the original Shrek CRT TV if you’re willing to pay thousands of dollars on eBay, or you can pick up a $50 toaster that gives off similar vibes. This Retro-style toaster comes in the classic slime green color you’d expect from Shrek and includes a light-up frame surrounding a picture of the iconic ogre and his trusty steed, Donkey. It may not function as an actual TV, but it does burn a picture of Shrek’s face onto your toast. What more could you ask for?

This is an officially-licensed product from DreamWorks and has enough positive views on Amazon that I’m confident enough to say it probably does actually work as a toaster. It can handle two slices of bread at a time and has a knob on the side for adjusting the toastiness levels of your toast. The little green knobs on the front of the toaster appear to be purely for show and complete the ‘Retro TV’ look.

If you dive a bit further into the Uncanny brand, you’ll find that Shrek isn’t the only option you’ve got either. There’s a Bob Ross toaster, a Sonic toaster, and even a Bluey toaster that all offer a different color scheme and toasted character.
