The Mandalorian and Grogu Soundtrack Is Getting a Vinyl Release in the Shape of Mando’s Helmet

The Shakari beat truly refuses to leave my brain, and that gives me a mighty good reason to be raving about Star Wars’ The Mandalorian and Grogu OST release. But that’s not the only reason, as the special collector’s edition notably features a Mandalorian helmet-shaped die-cut picture disc. I’m not kidding.

It’s available right now from Barnes & Noble for $31.99.

Sure, Ludwig Göransson’s incredible soundtrack does some heavy lifting for the first Star Wars film in seven years, which is a bit of a snooze fest in my very humble opinion.

But it doesn’t make the soundtrack any less of a banger.

Tom Jorgensen agreed with me in his review for IGN, awarding the film a 5/10, saying:

“Ludwig Göransson, the series’ composer, has some chances to shine – the synth-heavy version of Mando’s theme that hits when he arrives on Shakari rocks…”

“But this is a Star Wars movie missing the thrills, the surprises, the challenges, the addition of really anything of note to the franchise, not to mention a vested interest in seeing its characters grow and change. This is not the way.”

Yeah, it’s not likely one I’ll be rewatching anytime soon, but I’ll certainly be listening to the OST on rotation from now on, and I’m likely to check out the special edition vinyl release as well – I mean, look at it!

The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first new Star Wars movie to hit theaters since the divisive Rise of Skywalker came out in 2019, and follows a near seven year period of Disney+ shows, including The Mandalorian itself.

The movie brought in an estimated $165 million at the global box office during the four-day Memorial Day holiday release (May 22-24); $102 million came domestically and $63 million internationally. It’s reported to have now made around $248.2 million at the global box office, with estimates suggesting it will finish at around $340 million by the end of its run.
