The Legend of Zelda movie star Bo Bragason has raised hopes of an imminent trailer release for Nintendo’s upcoming film.
With just seven months to go until The Legend of Zelda arrives in theatres, Nintendo and Sony (which is distributing the film) are yet to show anything of it in motion. Sure, we’ve had a few photos of Bragason in costume as Zelda, alongside House of the Dragon actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. But there has been no sign of a teaser, and still no official confirmation of the film’s wider cast — despite many unofficial reports now having emerged.
Could all of that change today? Fans certainly believe so, as Bragason posted on Instagram last night to say she was “excited 4 tomorrow.” Bragason regularly posts on Instagram about her upcoming projects, though has acknowledged she can say nothing specific at all about The Legend of Zelda, which Nintendo is keeping under lock and key.
Fans had hoped we’d see something more of the film in this month’s recent Zelda-focused Nintendo Direct, but in reality there was little to add. Nintendo confirmed that The Legend of Zelda would be the movie’s name, and acknowledged it would be an original story inspired by the franchise so far, rather than a direct adaptation of any particular game.
Originally announced in 2023, The Legend of Zelda is helmed by Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball, while Nintendo’s legendary Shigeru Miyamoto is listed as a co-producer, alongside Marvel production veteran Avi Arad. The movie was shot last winter in New Zealand, with the Middle-earth-like location now doubling for Hyrule.
Unofficially, it’s been reported that Dichen Lachman (Severance) will play Impa, while Uli Latukefu (Black Adam) will play Ganondorf. These will be joined by other castmates such as Yvonne Strahovski, Lydia Peckham and the late Sam Neill. While their roles have yet to be disclosed, Deadline reported that the former will be playing a “queen” character.

Could we see them confirmed officially today? Time will tell. But what we do know for sure is that The Legend of Zelda is currently set to arrive in theaters on April 30, 2027.
