The Alpina Gstaad is delighted to announce the appointment of Francesco De Bartolomeis as the hotel’s new Executive Chef, set to join the team during the summer of 2026. He succeeds Martin Göschel, who departed at the end of the last winter season, after many successful years leading the property’s acclaimed culinary team.
Originally from Abruzzo in Italy, Francesco De Bartolomeis joins The Alpina Gstaad with a wealth of experience from some of Europe’s most celebrated kitchens. With his Italian roots and known for his pure, intense flavours and contemporary cuisine, Francesco De Bartolomeis combines Mediterranean creativity with a distinctive personal touch. His culinary style focuses on outstanding ingredients and seasonal produce, uniting technical rigour with a warm, generous spirit that makes guests feel instantly at home.
“I am honoured to join The Alpina Gstaad at this exciting moment. My ambition is to express the beauty of simplicity through honest flavours and precise craftsmanship that speaks to both emotion and a sense of place. I am excited to shape a cuisine that is international in outlook while offering an atmosphere that feels relaxed, welcoming and deeply comforting.” Francesco De Bartolomeis
From the summer season 2026, the restaurants Martin Göschel and Monti will be reimagined and unveiled later in the year, with a particular focus on shared, experience‑driven dining formats and internationally renowned residency concepts. At the Japanese restaurant Megu, the culinary direction will remain under Tsutomu Kugota.
“We would like to sincerely thank Martin Göschel for his outstanding contribution to The Alpina Gstaad and for the many memorable culinary moments he has created for our guests. With Francesco De Bartolomeis, we are now opening a new chapter. His personality, international experience and clear culinary handwriting make him perfectly aligned with our house and with our philosophy of artistry and warm, personal hospitality that allows guests to feel completely at ease and truly belong.” Nadine Friedli, General Manager The Alpina Gstaad.
