Disney’s live-action Tangled is now filming, and set leaks have revealed our first look at Teagan Croft in costume as Rapunzel, alongside Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.
DC’s Titans star Croft has been spotted wearing Rapunzel’s familiar purple dress and sporting a very long blonde wig on the movie’s set in Spain. Her co-star, the Disney Channel’s Zombies actor Manheim, has also been seen — wearing Flynn Rider’s iconic blue waistcoat.
The pair will lead Disney’s live-action Tangled adaptation that’s due in theaters next year. Hopes are high it will fare better than some of the company’s other recent live-action remakes such as Moana and Cinderella, both of which were critical and commercial flops.
So far, Tangled fans seem to be on board with the movie’s casting — and particularly the choice of Agatha: All Along actress Kathryn Hahn as the villainous Mother Gothel. Hahn has also been spotted on set, alongside Andor star Diego Luna, and real-life twins Patrick and Hugo McPherson, who’ll play the Stabbington brothers.
Intriguingly, Luna will play a new character created just for this live-action version — details of which are being kept under wraps. Visually, though, the actor does look like he could be playing Flynn’s father.
Other glimpses spotted by fans include the base of Rapunzel’s tower being built in the countryside near Bilbao in northern Spain, while location shooting is also underway at Girona Cathedral just north of Barcelona, which appears to be doubling for Corona Castle.
