The world of AEW turns in interesting ways for Swerve Strickland. Without any big storylines heading in All In, Swerve may have found his opponent for the PPV.
After Swerve interjected himself into the promo of trios champions Hangman Page, Brody King, and Bandido on Dynamite, many fans wondered if Swerve would recruit two pals to chase that gold. Suggestions pointed to New Day as a way to welcome Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods into the mix. During Collision on Saturday night (Aug. 15, 2026), it appears that Swerve may be heading in a different direction entirely. Swerve’s assignment at Wembley Stadium could be to toughen up Jungle Boy into Jungle Man.
Jack Perry cut a promo in the stairwell after his bloody loss to Jon Moxley in the Continental Challenge Cup. That beating instilled confidence in Perry to become the world champion. Moxley showed him the level it takes to be at the top. Iron sharpens iron, so Perry wants to face all former world champions as a way to improve. For some odd yet convenient reason, Swerve was also hanging in the stairwell. He must have been hiding from Ricochet. Swerve laughed off Perry’s challenge as someone not ready to walk amongst killers. Perry begged to differ. Surely, this promo should lead to a showdown between Perry and Strickland. The question is if it will be at All In.
That’s an interesting angle to move Perry up the ladder. I like the idea of learning by facing former world champions, and it can keep Perry’s character busy for the next few months. One flaw so far. Perry was destroyed by Moxley, and he didn’t look like a threat to chase AEW’s top prize. At least there is room for development as Perry fights the best of the best. I wonder who Perry will beat first. The list is exclusive with ten men to date. CM Punk and Bryan Danielson are out for obvious reason. That leaves Swerve, Moxley, MJF, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, Chris Jericho, Samoa Joe, and Darby Allin.
