For the past couple years, we’ve been tracking the nascent pro wrestling career of Steven Borden, the younger son of WWE Hall of Famer and WCW, TNA, and AEW Icon Sting. From training with Darby Allin, FTR & Adam Copeland, to wrestling at a Manhattan art installation, to working the indies, and hearing about AEW’s plans for him — it’s been full speed ahead for Steven since he put on the Wolfpac Sting facepaint.
But apparently Steven wasn’t the only hijo de el Stinger who caught the wrestling bug while working dad’s retirement match at AEW Revolution in March 2024. His older brother Garrett, who was Surfer Sting in the AEW Tag title match in North Carolina against The Young Bucks where their dad wrestled for the last time, didn’t jump right into the business with both feet like Steven.
Or maybe he did, he just kept it quieter? He did stop stop posting new content on his Destiny 2-focused YouTube channel in 2024. We’ll get a better idea after Garrett Borden wrestles for the first time this weekend (Sun., May 17) in Leander, Texas at Rhodes Wrestling Association’s Final Reckoning.
The Rhodes in the RWA — both the Association and the Academy its tied to — is Dustin, who works for AEW. It’s also where an indie wrestler named Jael trained and worked prior to going on hiatus last year after the birth of her son. Jael’s real name is Katelyn Borden; she’s Garrett’s wife. Katelyn has a job in AEW’s Community Outreach department.
Garrett, who like his brother is in his 30s, will be wrestling 28-year-old Brandon Barretta, an Ohio Valley Wrestling regular whose held the OVW Tag titles on two separate occasions.
