Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter was told that a Hell in a Cell match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns was “heavily discussed” for the WrestleMania 42 main event at one point. This was before Seth Rollins suffered an injury and needed surgery.
- The Observer also claims that when WWE first came up with the idea of doing Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania, plans changed four more times before they came back around to actually booking it.
- During an interview on An Unlikely Affair, Brie Bella said she assumed she would be on Raw every week after returning at Royal Rumble. The reason the Bella Twins were absent from WWE programming is because WWE said they would call them when they were needed for the story, and then five weeks went by with no follow up.
- The Bellas think they will be competing in the WWE women’s tag team championship at WrestleMania 42, even though they haven’t been told which night their match is happening.
- According to Fightful Select, people in WWE are impressed with how Danhausen has bounced back after what they are aware was a very bad debut at Elimination Chamber.
- The latest odds at BetOnline indicate that MJF, Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, and the Young Bucks are likely to win their respective matches this weekend at AEW Revolution.
- In a new interview with Denise Salcedo, AAA star El Hijo del Vikingo said he expects to join WWE’s main roster soon.
- F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer mentioned that WWE originally planned to book Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio last year at SummerSlam, with the idea of bringing back The Demon gimmick for it. The decision was ultimately made to delay the match because “the Judgment Day direction was still hot.”
