And here’s what other outlets and critics had to say:
Nintendo Everything – 4/5: “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 is a worthwhile port of a game that has somehow remained incredibly fun for nearly twenty years. It isn’t the most powerful, customizable, or necessarily prettiest way to play it, but it might be the version that makes the most sense for the way some of us actually live. It’s even in better shape…with all the memories attached and a couple layers of polish.”
Nintendo Insider – 8/10: “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered holds on to the heart of the 2006 original while making a lot of little changes to make it more palatable to modern players. Most of what made that game what it was is still here, even if in some cases you might wish it wasn’t. Performance is scattershot, bugs are everywhere, and even the bits that are working as intended can be quite clumsy at times. Those issues are not specific to this Switch 2 version, which does a very good job of bringing Oblivion Remastered as-is to Nintendo’s platform.”
Nintendo World Report – 7.5/10: “Oblivion Remastered is a visually beautiful take on an incredible but technically flawed masterpiece. That being said, it is hard to recommend Oblivion Remastered without reservation. On the one hand much of its underlying systems remain unique to this day. On the other hand, there is a reason Bethesda themselves pulled back on some of these systems going forward. Oblivion is a weird janky game, and this remaster merely makes it a prettier janky game… If you’re a Nintendo fan coming from Skyrim, be prepared for an ambitious but demanding adventure that is a little rough around the edges.”
SwitchUp – 82/100: “Oblivion obviously has a bunch of content to offer. The version we’re getting here is reasonably imperssive, definitely runs a lot better than the Steam Deck version, but it’s not perfect is it…still visually it looks cracking and in handheld mode, it’s quite a nice experience.”
