Roman Reigns snapped last Monday on Raw after CM Punk continued to disrespect his family. The OTC unleashed a brutal assault, dropping Punk with a Superman Punch. He then cut him in half with a spear before punctuating his attack with a table-shattering powerbomb.
And yet, that wasn’t even Reigns’ most explosive outburst.
On Sunday, WWE ranked the ten times that Reigns truly lost control, with last week’s carnage coming in at number three. Other entries included his beatdown on Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline, a violent ambush on Seth Rollins, and chucking Dominik Mysterio from the ring to the floor.
But the moment that surpassed them all, according to WWE, came in 2015.
After losing a WWE Championship match to Sheamus at that year’s TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Reigns went off on his boss, Triple H. Fed up with “The Game” and his Authority, Reigns delivered a sickening powerbomb to Triple H onto the announce table before driving him through it with a crushing elbow drop.
As the proud son and nephew of WWE Hall of Famers The Wild Samoans, Reigns continues to prove that beneath his chill persona lies the heart of a savage. However, that could come back to bite him against Punk at this year’s WrestleMania.
“When I get a little bit emotional, and I take my eye off the ball, I can miss,” Reigns told street journalist Adam Glyn last week in New York. That chink in the Tribal Chief’s armor is something Punk looks to exploit as he aims to retain the world title when they meet in Las Vegas on April 19 at WrestleMania 42.
