Rey Mysterio is a chill general manager in AAA, however, he was forced to flex his authority on the giant Omos in Saturday night’s episode of AAA Lucha Libre (July 12, 2026). Rey would not allow Omos to become Latin American champion.
Hijo del Vikingo was the reigning AAA Latin American champion. Unfortunately, Vikingo suffered a serious knee injury. He underwent surgery and will be out for months. That injury is the real deal and not part of a storyline.
As Vikingo’s manager in El Ojo, Dorian Roldan put the blame on Mysterio for sending Vikingo to wrestle on WWE Smackdown and NXT. Roldan plans to sue Mysterio for negligence. Roldan also made the executive decision to crown Omos as the new Latin American champion. If anyone has a problem with that, look in the giant’s eyes and try to take the title away.
Mysterio had a problem with it. That’s not how things are done in AAA. Mysterio was firm that he would only ask once for Omos to hand over the Latin American title. Omos stepped up to tower over Mysterio. Roldan smirked at the disrespect. Mysterio didn’t back down. He doubled down. Hand over the title or else be suspended indefinitely. Roldan changed his tune and convinced Omos to abide. The giant shoved the title belt into Mysterio’s chest knocking him back into the ropes. Rey officially declared that the Latin American Championship is vacated. Mysterio also mocked Roldan. If Dorian wants to sue him, Rey will see Dorian in court.
Next week, Mysterio will announce details on crowning the new Latin American champion. If Omos wants the gold, then he will have to earn it. Another man with interest in the title is Damian Priest.
