WCW star and lucha libre legend Konnan has dealt with health issues for about 20 years. Kidney problems led to a transplant in 2007. He was hit hard by a case of COVID during the pandemic, and first shared about being on dialysis in 2022. That was the same year he had heart surgery, and said he had a donor for another kidney transplant, but never discussed the surgery if it happened.
Yesterday (March 6), Mexico’s RECORD reported that Konnan was hospitalized in San Diego. Their columnist @elplanchitas was credited with the story, which also said that the first-ever CMLL World Heavyweight champion and current AAA creative team member was in “delicate” condition after having a leg amputated.
Based on information from @elplanchitas, RÉCORD can confirm that the Cuban wrestler, Carlos Santiago Espada, better known as ‘Konnan’, has just undergone the amputation of his leg. Carlos is in delicate health in the United States.
