The Joy-Con 2 are a huge improvement over the original Joy-Con, mostly thanks to the larger size. But they can still prove to be uncomfortably over lengthy period of time.

So, in an effort to provide something a little more ergonomic, YouTuber KOUZEX has manually created a fascinating hybrid, combining the Joy-Con 2 with the Wii Remote. The resulting accessory still attaches magnetically to the Switch 2 console, and while it’s perhaps not the prettiest solution, it seems to all work as intended.

A lot of work went into it, too – it’s not a case of just disassembling the controllers and swapping the boards over. Thanks to the radically different button layouts, KOUZEX had to manually remap everything to ensure proper access to all of the Switch 2’s inputs.

Even after all of that, putting the shells together properly proved to be a significant task. Thankfully, it all worked out in the end, with tests performed on the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Nintendo Switch Sports.

It’s a cool little project, though probably not something we’d be eager to try out for ourselves anytime soon. Hey, if Nintendo eventually decides to add Wii games to NSO, we might at least see the official Wii Remotes make some kind of comeback in the future.
