Official Trailer for ‘No Good Men’ Clever RomCom from Afghanistan

No Good Men Trailer

“A feel-good love story in a feel-bad place.” An official trailer is available for the clever romantic comedy film titled No Good Men, made by an Afghan filmmaker named Shahrbanoo Sadat as her latest feature film. This initially premiered as the opening film at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and has been touring around at many other fests, playing at the London & Warsaw Film Fests next coming up this fall. Shahrbanoo Sadat also stars in the lead role as Naru, who films cooking shows for a local TV station but despises men after her ex-husband’s affairs. She lives with her 3-year-old son in her parents’ Kabul apartment, trying to get full custody of her child, though Afghan law still favors the father. Naru is therefore caught off guard when Qodrat, Kabul TV’s most important journalist, offers her a career opportunity. As the two criss-cross the city reporting on its last days of freedom back in 2021, sparks fly between them and Naru starts to doubt her conviction. Could there be a good man out there after all? 🇦🇫 This is a fun one with some unique filmmaking sensibilities. I’ve seen it already, and I’d say it’s worth a watch if you’re curious about it.

Here’s the main official trailers (+ poster) for Shahrbanoo Sadat’s film No Good Men, found on YouTube:

Via Berlin: “Afghanistan, 2021, shortly before the Taliban’s return to power. Naru, the only camerawoman at Kabul’s main TV station, is struggling to retain custody of her 3-year-old son. After leaving her serially cheating husband, she has become convinced that no good men exist in her country. She’s therefore caught off guard when Qodrat, Kabul TV’s most important journalist, offers her a career opportunity. As the two criss-cross the city reporting on its last days of freedom, sparks fly between them and Naru starts to doubt her conviction. Could there be a good man out there after all?” No Good Men is directed by talented Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat, making her fourth feature film so far after directing Not at Home, Wolf and Sheep, and The Orphanage as well. It’s produced by Katja Adomeit, Shahrbanoo Sadat, Jeppe Wowk, Marina Perales Marhuenda, Xavier Rocher, Ingvil Sæther Berger, Balthasar Busmann, & Maxi Haslberger. This initially premiered at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. The film plays at the London Film Festival next and opens in cinemas across Europe this fall. No US release is set yet – stay tuned. Intrigued?
