Official Trailer for NatGeo’s ‘Chilean Mine Rescue: Out of Time’ Doc

Chilean Mine Rescue: Out of Time Doc Trailer

“We’re not giving up.” National Geographic has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary series titled Chilean Mine Rescue: Out of Time, out for streaming this month. It’s the next installment in NatGeo’s Emmy-winning “Race Against Time” series. Everyone remembers this story that stopped the world in 2010! When 33 miners became trapped more than half mile underground in northern Chile, the entire world held its breath. Over 69 days, rescuers raced to try to save them while the men underground fought to survive. The series follows the miners from the moment of the collapse through the improvised order that took hold in the days underground to the engineering gamble that made the rescue possible and the fame and lasting toll that followed. Featuring unseen archive footage and powerful interviews with survivors & rescuers, this documentary series tells the definitive story of one of history’s most compelling disasters. I’m still amazed they were able to get all 33 of them out safely. Back in 2015 they made a big movie out of this incident called The 33. Now 16 years after it happened, NatGeo is ready to share their doc about this daring rescue in Chile.

Here’s the official trailer for NatGeo’s doc Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time, from YouTube:

Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time tells the story of endurance, ingenuity and improbable unity behind one of history’s most challenging rescues ever attempted. It features never-before-seen cell phone footage filmed in the mine and includes powerful interviews with survivors, families and rescuers — some speaking publicly outside of local Chilean press for the first time — to tell the definitive story of the 69 days rescuers raced to save the trapped miners while the men underground fought to survive. Among those featured is Jeff Kofman, then ABC’s International Correspondent and the first international journalist on the scene, who reported from Chile as the rescue unfolded. Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time is a doc series co-directed by the two filmmakers Chloe Campbell (“Murder in the Pacific”) & James Parris (Tsunami: Race Against Time). Produced by Blast Films for National Geographic. Executive produced by Tanya Winston, Shona Thompson, Danny Horan, Carolyn Payne. National Geographic debuts Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time doc series streaming on Disney+ and Hulu available September 25th, 2026.
