“Why do I have to marry a fish?” 🐠 GKids has revealed the official US trailer for the adorable new anime movie titled ChaO, one of many new projects from the animation house called Studio 4°C in Japan. They also made Children of the Sea a few years ago & just opened the new All You Need Is Kill movie in January. After premiering last year at Japan Cuts and the London Film Festival, ChaO is now getting a US release in theaters in April this spring. In a world where humans and merpeople exist, Princess Chao gets engaged to human engineer Stephen. What will become of their romance? ChaO is a kind of a funny spin on The Little Mermaid, with quite a few anime twists. The film stars Osamu Suzuka and Anna Yamada. Suzuka voices the role of Stefan, an ordinary businessman who falls for her, and Yamada will play the role of Chao, the princess of the mermaid kingdom who wants to experience everything on land. The movie is described by GKids as “an inventive and genre-defying delight bursting with color and character. Equal parts hilarious & heartbreaking, ChaO’s singular narrative is an ode to boundless love.” It looks like tons of wacky, fishy fun. // Continue Reading ›
