North West Reveals She Wants to Work at Starbucks Next Year

North West is spilling the beans on her current dream job.

Despite her burgeoning career as a musician, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 13-year-old daughter has quite the normal career path in mind.

“I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year,” North shared with Dazed in an interview published Aug. 24. “I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can.”

And as the teen explained, her reason for wanting to work at Starbucks was actually quite simple: “I want to have a regular job.”

However, North has no plans to set aside her musical ambitions just to have a brew-tiful time as a barista. In fact, she takes issue with those who suggest she push her music career to when she’s a little older.

“It’s like, nah, this is my hobby,” she explained, “this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life.”

And she’s done just that. North released her debut EP N0rth4vr on May 1, dropped the music video for her song “Aishite” on Aug. 7 and most importantly, made her first-ever solo music festival performance as Summer Smash in June.

“I wish I’d done it earlier, though,” she said of the experience. “I’ve been ready.”

As she pursues music, she also clarified that her other artistic pursuits, like painting, have been put on the back burner.

“I was really into painting sunsets,” she said. “I paint for fun sometimes, but the paint I use always gets on my hands… like oil paints. So it’s not easy to take off.”

And although she’s lived her life in the public eye, North still finds time to enjoy the same things others her age appreciate, revealing she’s big on using TikTok and Pinterest, especially because she likes to “make moodboards for my nails and my hair.”

Of course, if she can’t find it on Pinterest? “I just be making it up,” she said. “I gotta draw it too, ’cause there’s nothing on Pinterest. I can’t find what I really want for real.”

Though her current gig helming The Drew Barrymore Show fills her days now, when the child star found herself emancipated from mom Jaid Barrymore at age 14, she scrambled to pay the bills. Noting her friend worked at a coffee shop in the Valley, the actress shared in her 2015 memoir Wildflower that she had to find something closer to their rental because she didn’t have a driver’s license. “It was the start of the 1990s, and coffeehouses were where everyone hung out,” she detailed of working at L.A. hot spot the Living Room. “People poured out on to the street every night.” Unfortunately, she continued, “I wasn’t great at my job. I wasn’t really great at anything. I had only done two things: acted and had wild life experiences.”She served up the tea on one tense experience in her book. “I could tell my boss, who had hired me on the novel idea of having a washed-up former child actor behind the counter, was patient with all my learning curves, but was also irritated with me,” she wrote, revealing how he walked in while she was doing the dishes “and said, very sharply and exasperatedly, ‘Don’t use the abrasive side of the brush! All the pastry cases are getting scratched and foggy, and you can’t see what’s inside!'”
