Arriving on 20th August
Fortnite’s big gaming celebration season arrives this week, on 20th August – but there’ll be no Sony characters involved.
While the platform holder has shared Kratos and Aloy with the title in the past, neither feature at all in this trailer for Override.
It’s possible they could return to the Item Shop at some point during the event, but there’s no word on that.
Characters that will feature include Sonic the Hedgehog, as rumoured, as well as Bomberman and Persona 5’s Joker. It looks like there’ll be weapons and gameplay inspired by all of the above.
Tetris and Pac-Man will feature as well, while there’ll be loop-the-loops in the island inspired by SEGA’s blue blur. There’s even a Jazz Jackrabbit nod – although that game was obviously made by Epic.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will also appear, but despite their history on PS1, they’re actually owned by Microsoft now.
I personally think this season looks quite entertaining, and it’s been the first time in quite a while I’ve been tempted to fire up Fortnite.
But I do think PlayStation’s missed a trick by not getting more involved – unless that will happen later in the season.
