Mike Myers Says Austin Powers 4 Will Happen

Oh behave! Austin Powers will return for a fourth movie, writer and star Mike Myers has said.

Speaking via Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, as the film star watched France beat Senegal, Myers replied “yes” when asked if another Austin Powers movie would ever be made.

While he didn’t provide further detail on when a new film might actually happen, Myers’ brief comment is his strongest sign yet that Austin Powers will indeed return — something that he and director Jay Roach have been hinting at for much of the past 25 years.

The 30 Best Comedies of All Time

Originally launched between 1997 and 2002, the current Austin Powers movie trilogy consists of International Man of Mystery, The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember, which see Myers play the sex-obsessed British spy Austin Powers, his evil nemesis Dr. Evil, and a variety of other roles.

While Goldmember remains the final entry in the series to date, Myers told IGN back in 2007 that he had an idea for a fourth film, that would be told “from Dr. Evil’s point of view.”

But these plans never materialized. Myers has not written a film since the flop of his 2008 movie The Love Guru, and has taken only small parts and voice roles for much of the next decade. Myers has also previously spoken of taking time away from his acting career to focus on family, following the birth of his three children.

Recent years have seen Myers speak again of wanting to bring back his comedy spy hero, however. In December 2024, the actor said he would be “very surprised” if a fourth movie didn’t materialize “soon.” How soon that actually will be, however, remains to be seen.
