Watch: Melissa Joan Hart Has a Massive Shirley Temple Doll Collection—And Yes, Her Kids Are Freaked Out
Melissa Joan Hart is explaining it all when it comes to some of her most prized possessions.
The Clarissa Explains It All alum revealed that she has quite the collection of ShirleyTemple dolls in her home that her and husband Mark Wilkerson’s sons Mason, 20, Braydon, 18, and Tucker, 13, are less than amused by.
“I used to teach dance and babysit, and with the money I would send it to the Danbury Mint and get my porcelain doll of Shirley Temple. I would pay it in installments of $33 a month,” Hart told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes in an exclusive joint interview with JoeyLawrence, MatthewLawrence and KeshiaKnightPulliam. “I still have a massive collection of the dolls.”
But don’t count on her sons to hop aboard the good shop lollipop anytime soon.
“My boys get freaked out by it,” the 50-year-old confessed. “They’re like, ‘Oh, the dolls!’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I have to have them somewhere.’ I spent a lot of money on those.”
And though they don’t share her interest in Shirley Temple in doll form, they are more curious about their mom’s own onscreen adventures, with Hart admitting at least one of her sons has joined her for a Melissa & Joey rewatch.
“I was watching the first episode again just to remind myself of where it came from. I was watching it in the living room and it went into the second episode and then the third episode,” Hart explained. “I realized I was still watching it and my son was watching it. My other son walks in and goes, ‘You’re watching Mom’s show?’”

As for the verdict? “He was like, ‘Shut up! It’s funny,’” she continued. “It was such a great moment.”
But beyond revisiting her more recent onscreen adventures, the Sabrina the Teenage Witch star is joining several of her fellow ‘90s icons on a new nostalgic journey. Hart is teaming up with Lawrence and Pulliam to go up against Brian AustinGreen, BeverleyMitchell and JodieSweetin on HGTV’s new renovation show Totally ‘90s House, hosted by Jaleel White.
On the competition series—which premieres on HGTV Aug. 16 and is available to stream the next day on HBO Max—the two teams attempt to find a home stuck in the 1990s and modernize the dated spaces while preserving their nostalgic ‘90s charm.

Plus, looking at the frozen in time homes proved to be a thrill for Hart as she got to rediscover one of her favorite ‘90s design features.
“There was a lot of glass brick,” she raved. “I did like the glass brick. I had a shower that was all glass brick going to the outside and I love that. I still love glass brick.”
