Watch: Shailene Woodley and Lucas Bravo Break Up Nearly 5 Months After Confirming Romance
Mary Beth Barone got quite the compensation from Netflix for Galaxy Brain.
As the Overcompensating actress jokingly put it, the streamer set her up on a date with Emily in Paris star Lucas Bravo to drum up “publicity” for her comedy special.
“Netflix called me,” Barone shared during her July 29 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “They said, ‘We love the special. We want as many people to see it as possible. Let us know how we can help.'”
“I said, ‘How about a marketing budget?'” the 35-year-old continued. “They said, “Not that, but we could set you up in a PR relationship. Choose a guy from any of our Netflix properties.'”
Though Barone’s initial pitch to be set up with fellow comedian was shut down, she said the Netflix marketing team told her, “The chef from Emily in Paris is available.”
“They handled everything,” Barone quipped. “Our first date was courtside at the Knicks. We went to the Cannes Film Festival, and we had to have sex a few times for legal reasons.”
She jokingly added, “We’re not together anymore, though. We just did the three-month contract.”
Indeed, Barone and Bravo, 38, did attend an NBA game together in March. They were also spotted in France during the Cannes Film Festival two month later, though they were not photographed at the same event.
But this was not the first time Barone poked fun at her love life.
“I got dumped,” she told late night host Seth Meyers during a 2025 appearance on his show, confirming the breakup was recent and that it had caught her off guard. “It’s crazy when someone’s deeply in love with you and then they’re like, ‘Actually, I just change my mind.'”

In her signature deadpan humor, she added, “It can happen to anyone, even people on TV shows.”
As for Bravo? He, too, experienced a breakup last year, splitting with Shailene Woodley less than six months after going public with their relationship.
While he has not spoken out about his romance with Woodley, the French actor did previously share his insight into dating in Hollywood.
“I have this rule about costars: Once you step on set, it’s a workplace, and I want to keep it professional,” he told Glamour in 2020. “You never know what can happen, but I really try as much as possible to focus on the story we have to tell and the performance and the character.”
