Judd Apatow found that losing weight on Ozempic wasn’t quite a piece of cake.

As wife Leslie Mann revealed, the 40-Year-Old Virgin director has actually been gaining weight despite taking the popular weight loss drug.

“He has gained, like, 15 pounds in four years,” Mann told guest host Jelly Roll on the Aug. 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “He’s on the highest dose and he likes to outrun the feeling that you get when—that Ozempic gives you to stop eating.”

She added, “He likes to override it or outrun it.”

The omission floored Jelly Roll—who has discussed his own experience using weight loss drugs—as he quipped that Apatow was “overeating Ozempic.”

But according to Mann, her husband of almost 30 years—with whom she shares kids Maude Apatow, 28, and Iris Apatow, 23—has a reason for the experiment.

“He’s very proud of the fact that the pharmaceutical companies don’t have control over him,” she explained. “It’s so weird.”

Apatow has explained that he’s made it his mission to continue eating despite Ozempic trying to reduce his appetite.

“It makes you nauseous so you don’t wanna eat. But I take it as a challenge to eat through the nausea,” he told the crowd at the Comedy Cellar in a clip posted to Facebook 2024, joking he would “f–king prove this medicine doesn’t work.”

“Sometimes I’ll eat ice cream and shoot myself with Ozempic at the same time to see who wins. Just to see who wins the battle,” the 58-year-old exclaimed. “It’s been a draw so far. That experiment cost me $40,000.”

And it’s an experiment the Knocked Up director has been quite interested in, telling Vulture in 2024, “My goal wasn’t to lose weight—my goal was to outrun Ozempic and prove that you can gain weight on this thing.”

“I was almost offended at the idea that a drug could make me lose weight,” he shared. “Like, ‘F–k you, I’m going to gain weight. Who do you think you are? You think you’re stronger than this? My low self-esteem, which is sedated by food, cannot be stopped by your silly injection.’”

And according to Apatow, he didn’t even realize he was being prescribed Ozempic when a nutritionist first gave him the shots to take, which left Mann shocked.

“Leslie was like, ‘You never asked what was in a shot. You literally inject yourself with a mystery juice.’ And I never checked,” he admitted. “I’m still doing it now. It doesn’t work at all. Look at me; I look terrible. I want to look like SharonOsbourne. I am not making this work.”

It opens up just more ability to be present.”

Trisha PaytasHaving gained 80 pounds in back-to-back pregnancies with Malibu Barbie, Elvis and Aquaman, Trisha Paytas was eager to dive into a new weight loss strategy. “I was starving myself, killing myself in the gym, eating grapefruit for dinner and I just was not losing it,” she recounted to People in June 2026. “And I’ve tried everything else in my life, like all the fad diets, so I was like, ‘OK, I should just try a GLP-1 if it’s working for so many people.'”Six weeks into her Zepbound journey, she was down 26 pounds and making plans to run 26.2 miles as she considers a 2027 marathon. “I’ve lived 38 years of my life obsessing about food,” she explained, “it would be nice to live the next 38 just thinking about food a normal amount.”

Serena WilliamsFollowing years of struggle following the 2017 birth of eldest daughter Alexis, Serena Williams was ready to serve. “No matter what I did—running, walking, I would walk for hours because they say that’s good,” she detailed on Today in 2025, “I literally was playing a professional sport—and I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health.”After a bit of back-and-forth volleying, the Ro partner stuck with a GLP-1 medication that helped her drop 31 pounds. Sharing her desire to do away with the idea that the medication is a “shortcut,” she explained, “As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn’t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place.”

Oprah WinfreyMore than three decades after Oprah Winfrey wheeled a wagon of fat onto her talk show stage, she’s put her new wellness strategy on display. When she revealed in December 2023 that she was taking a weight loss medication, “I was like an anomaly,” she acknowledged on a January 2025 episode of The Oprah Podcast, “an anomaly in that I was willing to say it.” And that wasn’t all that she shared. “One of the things that I realized the very first time I took a GLP-1 was that all these years I thought that thin people, those people just had more willpower,” she noted. “They ate better foods. They were able to stick to it longer. They never had a potato chip.”But when she started her regimen, she realized “that, ‘Oh, they’re not even thinking about it. They’re only eating when they’re hungry and they’re stopping when they’re full.'”

Whitney LeavittYears before Dancing With the Stars, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star revealed she was taking semaglutide injections—which are sold under brand names like Ozempic and Wegovy—to lose weight. “I have a secret sauce,” she said on YouTube in Janaury 2023. “It’s killing the fat and I’m just peeing it out. At least, that’s how I understand it.”

Kendra WilkinsonFormer Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson gave one unnamed weight loss injectable a shot. Exactly one, to be precise. “I started the weight loss shots,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories in April 2025. “Only did one. Nevermind. Throwing away!!”However, she resumed what she called her “GLP-1 journey” in March 2026, writing on Instagram that she was “being really intentional” about her usage this time around.”For me, it wasn’t just about weight… it was about feeling better, having more energy, and actually trusting the process instead of rushing it,” she continued. “I wanted something that felt transparent, supportive, and realistic for my lifestyle.”

Nikki GlaserThe Golden Globes host fiercly defended the use of Ozempic in March 2025, calling for people to be more open about using the medication.“I love it. I’m like, ‘Do it,’” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I have no judgment. After several fans speculated on social media that Lizzo used Ozempic to lose weight, following a post she shared in which she showcased a slimmer figure, the Grammy winner posted this video, set to a viral TikTok sound bite of Christoph Waltz‘s character saying, “It’s like a reward” from Django Unchained.Later, though, the musician admitted she gave some injectibles a shot. “I tried everything,” Lizzo told host Trisha Paytas during a June 2025 episode of the Just Trish podcast, before explaining why she wound up ditching GLP-1 medications early on in her journey. “Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”

Lottie MossKate Moss‘ little sis revealed why getting on Ozempic was “the worst decision I ever made,” during a September 2024 episode of her Dream On podcast. After taking a dosage meant for those roughly 220 pounds or more, the model was struggling to keep any food or water down and landed in the emergency room. “I literally had a seizure from how dehydrated I was, which honestly was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” she admitted. “My friend had to hold my feet down.
