Doubts been cast on the version of Ludwig Kaiser’s arrest that could have made him an even bigger folk hero than he already is El Grande Americano. But we did recently learn some important dates and an interesting detail related to the misdemeanor battery charge Kaiser (real name Marcel Barthel) is facing in Orange County, Florida.
The key piece of information is that a pre-trial conference is on the court’s schedule for Thursday, July 16 in Orlando, Florida. That’s when the prosecution and defense will meet to see if they can negotiate a resolution such as a plea bargain without a trial. While this could change or never happen at all based on the outcome of the July 16 conference, court records also mention August 10-28 as the timeframe for the case to be tried.
The interesting detail? The defendant, his lawyers, and the prosecution were all informed of these dates, as was the person who bonded Kaiser out of jail after he turned himself in on May 19: Walter Hahn, aka Gunther.
WWE fans know that Gunther and Kaiser were teammates in Imperium before that group was split up ahead of Gunther’s main event push, and long-time followers of the independent and European scenes may know their relationship goes back to training and working in Austria and Germany together in the aughts.
It seems they may also be each other’s emergency contacts. At least, Gunther is at the top of Kaiser’s “co-workers to call before you get arrested” list.
More as we have it, which may not be until that after that July 16 conference.
