“It all began when he came!” Well Go USA has revealed the official US trailer for the prison action thriller Ghost in the Cell, one of the latest films from prolific Indonesian genre filmmaker Joko Anwar. This first premiered at the 2026 Berlin & Sydney & Karlovy Vary Film Festivals, and opens in US theaters starting in October. Set inside a notorious prison, an invisible force starts killing inmates brutally, compelling enemy gangs & corrupt guards to work together as they try to survive all of the bloodshed. Between spontaneous dance-offs and sudden prayers, kinetic fistfights and Kierkegaard invocations, hapless inmates scramble for cover. The action film stars Abimana Aryasatya, Almanzo Konoralma, Aming Sugandhi, Arswendy Bening Swara, Bront Palarae, & Dimas Danang Suryonegoro. This is an “energetic blend of graphic horror, dark comedy, and social critique.” Reviews state that this is commentary on “real-world corruption and systemic injustice, supported by solid ensemble performances and a compelling narrative style.” This looks totally gnarly! Insane brutal violence and massive inmate battles – just as expected from Joko Anwar.
