JetBlue Unveils New Domestic First Class Seats as It Hopes to End Losing Streak

JetBlue unveiled its new domestic first class seats Tuesday in a bet that the product will become a major profit driver for the carrier that has already faced a string of losses for six straight years.

The new seats, known as BlueFirst, are designed with a foam typically used for mattresses. The seats have seven additional inches of legroom and up to five inches of recline. Set up in a 2×2 configuration, JetBlue said its Airbus A220s and A320s will have 12 BlueFirst seats, while A321s will have 16. The cabins also feature 13.3-inch seatback screens, outlets, and dedicated overhead bin space. Bookings will be available in the fall and the first aircraft will debut later this year.

Customers flying domestic first class will receive perks such as blankets and amenity kits, seatback ordering for food and drinks. These customers will also get priority boarding and check-in, along with access to an expedited security lane at more than 30 airports.
