Ultimate Battles × Everyday Life! Toho has unveiled a third teaser trailer for the live-action movie based on the hit manga and hit anime series called Sakamoto Days, about a “plus-sized assassin” named Sakamoto Taro. We featured the first two teasers for this in December a few months back. The anime series released on Netflix earlier in 2025 – it’s streaming now there. This is pretty much a shot-for-shot remake, with exact details replicated including his opaque glasses. Taro was once the most powerful killer but he retired after falling in love with Aoi. He now runs a small neighborhood convenience store called “Sakamoto Store.” He fights using whatever weapons are at hand, rather than relying on any specific ones. He loves his wife and daughter above all else… This is what happens when his past catches up with him. This movie stars Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto as the “fat assassin”, Aya Ueto as Aoi Sakamoto, with Fumiya Takahashi and Miyu Yoshimoto. I’m loving how much this is a literal anime-to-big-screen adaptation, embracing all the kookiness of the anime series instead of trying to make it more realistic for the cinema.
