“When the battle starts, keep up the fight.” Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for the Unabomber movie, a biopic about the life and times and infamous turn to terrorism for American math genius Ted K. Yep they made another film about him. Not just a series, this one is an actual 97 minute feature arriving on Netflix. A smart Harvard student becomes the Unabomber after his professor’s psychological experiments. Years later, an FBI agent’s pursuit reveals how his past shaped his deadly campaign that killed 3 and injured 23 from 1978-1995. Unabomber flashes back & forth between Ted Kaczynski’s struggle to fit in as a young man, and the future investigation by Joanne Miller, the FBI agent tasked with catching this “Unabomber”. Between these dual timelines, a portrait of Ted K takes shape. “Ideas are like fire,” Crowe says in the trailer. “They burn from man to man.” Starring Jacob Tremblay as Ted K, Russell Crowe as Professor Murray, Shailene Woodley as Joanne Miller, with Annabelle Wallis, Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca. A few years ago there was also an indie film made about him called simply Ted K starring Sharlto Copley. This one spends plenty more time in his troubled youth before finding him out in the woods.
Here’s the main official trailer for Janus Metz’s film Unabomber, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

“A mind can fall into madness.” Inspired by true events, Netflix’s original film Unabomber follows Ted Kaczynski’s (Jacob Tremblay) transformation from 16-year-old Harvard prodigy into infamous American terrorist known as the “Unabomber“. Subjected to controversial psychological experiments by Professor Henry Murray (Russell Crowe), Kaczynski’s troubled past resurfaces decades later when his manhunt, led by FBI agent Joanne Miller (Shailene Woodley), brings to light the chilling consequences of ambition and isolation. Unabomber is a film directed by Danish filmmaker Janus Metz, director of the films Love on Delivery, Armadillo, Borg vs. McEnroe, Heartbound: A Different Kind of Love Story, All the Old Knives, and a few episodes of the “Andor” series previously. The screenplay is written by Sam Chalsen & Nelson Greaves. Produced by Sophie Cassidy for 2.0 Entertainment. In Association with MRC. Netflix debuts Metz’s Unabomber streaming on Netflix globally starting September 25th, 2026 this fall. Who wants to watch?
