The rumours were true and the next ‘2D’ game in the Metroid series is coming on 28th January 2027.
Metroid Ravenous is a Switch 2 exclusive continuing Samus’ story after 2021’s Metroid Dread and sees the bounty hunter devouring enemies in an “eat or be eaten” scenario. Sounds fun!

Where to Pre-Order Metroid Ravenous
Here is a selection of retailers with assorted deals, plus any bonuses they’re offering. We’ll update with new listings as and when they go live.
The standard version is just the game, although the more expensive Special Edition comes with a SteelBook case and an exclusive Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo that can’t be bought separately. Unfortunately, the Special Edition is sold out at various retailers at the time of writing, but we’ll update this guide if/when stock is resupplied.
The pages for both versions are live on Nintendo Store UK, although we haven’t seen any stock appear at the time of writing, so it’s worth keeping an eye out – we’ll update when we see it appear.
A queuing system is in place, but the products are now live on the UK site. For the Special Edition, following a previous message that it was “available on back order”, it’s currently “out of stock”.
Update: Very in the UK has stock of the Special Edition at the time of writing.
Where to Pre-Order Metroid Ravenous amiibo
Three new amiibo are coming alongside the game, including ‘regular’ Samus, a giant Chozo Statue, and a Metroid Suit version of Samus that’s available only in the Special Edition pack.
Again, Nintendo’s own listings are out of stock at the time of writing. We’ll update and add further listings as they appear. Update: The amiibo are now live on the Nintendo Store UK site, limited to three per customer.
Pre-Order Metroid Ravenous with eShop Credit
If you decide to go full digital and need some eShop credit, we’ve got you covered. The game is $69.99 / £58.99 physical, but $59.99 / £49.99 if you’re happy with the digital version.
Just make sure to apply the credit to the account you’re using to purchase the game/upgrade!
