It didn’t take long for the mood to dampen around Oblivion Remastered‘s Switch 2 launch, as Bethesda followed up the reveal with the announcement that it (alongside the Skyrim and Fallout 4 ports) would be relegated to a code-in-a-box physical release.

Things got brighter four months later, as the studio revealed that the game would, in fact, receive a proper on-cart physical release, and it’d launch in August.

Such an announcement left us feeling rather more optimistic, and we have patiently waited for the release date ever since. Last week, said date arrived, and Bethesda marked the occasion by very kindly sending us a box of Cyrodiil-themed goodies to celebrate.

Below, we’ve assembled a gallery of all this merch, so you can feast your eyes on the artwork and the all-important Sweet Roll plushie complete cartridge.

Right from the start, though, let’s hear it for dat box. Come on, it’s quite the box…

We should probably showcase its contents, too. We’ll kick things off with the four map art cards and acrylic character standees. We never imagined we’d have a clear-plastic image of the Adoring Fan sitting on our desk, but here we are.

The box also contained a neat piece of hanging art and a particularly snazzy Akatosh metal collectible — the latter features the game’s “Lord Akatosh lends you his might…” quote engraved on the back.

Forget the game, the pièce de résistance here is the Sweet Roll plush. Again, it’s not something we even knew we needed, but now that it’s here…

And finally, we have the physical itself. Behold the joy of a Switch 2 cart without one of those little key symbols on it! Beautiful.

Not a bad line-up, eh? In our 8/10 review, we described Oblivion Remastered as “huge value for money and well worth experiencing for the first time or revisiting if you’ve walked through this flaming gate before,” even if it does have some performance issues at launch.
