“Likely to shake you to your core.” Mk2 Films revealed the official trailer for the acclaimed documentary film titled NAZA, a remarkably upsetting look about using AI in horrible ways. This film premeired at the 2026 Venice Film Festival earlier this month, and it was highlighted in my Best of the Fest recap as one of the best films from Venice this year. A vitally important, must see doc that actually might change the world. Filmed at night from Tel Aviv, Israel rooftops, this powerful investigative documentary examines the civilian casualties of Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the systems behind targeted killings of Palestinians. It was produced by The Guardian, JW Films, Placeholder Films, and Unseen Hand, and executive produced by Oscar winner Jonathan Glazer (of The Zone of Interest). Not only this film important for political reasons, but it’s also important to see how Artificial Intelligence systems work today, how insane surveillance is & how much access they have, and how this is all used against regular people for the control of those in power. Frightening doesn’t even cover half of it! Do not ignore this doc – it’s seriously eye-opening & unforgettable.

In secret conversations on the rooftops of Tel Aviv at night, the systems behind Israel’s calculated mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza are revealed by the people who designed and operated them. Many of the revelations in the film were published almost immediately as we learned of them, in the months following the October 7th, 2023 attacks, by The Guardian (one of NAZA’s producers), in collaboration with reporting partners +972 Magazine and Local Call. The doc film lets us explore something deeper than we could in our investigative journalism alone: not only the words being said but also those that are not said, the silence. It is up to all of us to break that silence. NAZA is co-directed by the Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham & Rachel Szor, directors of the film No Other Land previously. It’s produced by Harry Davies, Lindsay Poulton, James Wilson & The Guardian. Executive produced by filmmaker Jonathan Glazer. This first premiered at the 2026 Venice Film Festival earlier this year. NAZA debuts in select US theaters starting September 30th, 2026 – then it’ll be available to watch for free online from The Guardian this November.
